2012: The year of sustainability in the event industry

London’s hosting of the Olympics this year is inspiring changes within the event industry, this educational session will focus on those changes and include insights from corporate, national government bodies, venues hosting Olympic events and members of the event supply chain.
- David Stubbs, Head of Environment and Sustainable Development, Local Organising Committee of the London 2012 Olympic Games, will provide the keynote address and talk about sustainability initiatives which are shaping the event industry.
- James Musgrave, Leeds Metropolitan University, will explain MPI’s thought leadership research project being undertaken on the subject of sustainability in the event industry.
- Fiona Pelham, Chair of ISO 20121, will discuss the impacts of the launch of this international standard for the event industry.
- Mervyn Jones, EPOW (European Pathway to Zero Waste), will be explaining the latest developments relating to the sustainable event industry roadmap, and the resource management plan tool.
Additional speakers will include members of the event industry supply chain who will share their experience of practical implementation of sustainability. Further speakers will be announced closer to the event. Education content for this event has been co-ordinated by Positive Impact.
